RAISE THE ROOF!

Today was the day we'd been waiting for all week...we have a roof! Now this really looks like a house and not just a bunch of boards strewn all about. Friday's are an absolute no-no for going down to Woodbridge. Traffic is ridiculous and we don't have the patience for it, so I went down while Skyler was at work today. We'll go down again on Saturday so we can actually walk through and see what they've done with the interior.

A few days ago we saw the house and I was instantly concerned because the window above the door was in the shape of a rectangle. I knew that we were supposed to have a palladium window, so I thought that maybe someone had made a mistake. We were ever so happy when we saw the windows go in and there was my palladium window. Thank goodness no one has to deal with the wrath of Mrs. Bradbury! I might not know what I'm talking about in terms of the building process and how the construction is to be done, but boy howdy, I can tell you the size of our closet, where every last tile in the bathroom is going to be placed, and where all the pretty windows go. I've got to be good for something! :)

Here's a view from the west side of the house. And, yes, this directionally challenged Wisconsinite just referred to a portion of the house using a cardinal direction. That's no small feat for someone who can't figure out where she is if Lake Michigan isn't close by. (Just wait- once Skyler reads this he'll probably need to very kindly point out that my directions were not quite right!)

At least I can't get this one wrong. Here's the back of the house! I tried to get a picture from directly behind the house, but I was wearing sandals and kept sliding down the hill. This will have to do for today.

This picture is of the east side of the house. The window on the first floor is our office, and the two smaller windows on the second floor are in the master bathroom.

This was my attempt to get a sneak peak into the house while the crews were still working. Depending on the day and what's being done inside, we're free to go in, but we're encouraged to call before we get there so someone can be with us and give us a hard hat to wear. This is looking through the garage. Once through the white door, you would be in the laundry room, and beyond that, the kitchen. We found it humorous that on the door is a map of the United States, and the manufacturer shaded in the states that our door is suitable to be used in. Wisconsin and Utah were not part of that shaded in area. So, I guess our door would never hold up to the harsh winters of our home states. Wimpy little southern door.

We've now come full circle and once again see the front of the house. Off to the left is a huge pile of bricks that will soon cover the front of the house. Yeah!!!
