HOW FIRM A FOUNDATION!

On Skyler's birthday we decided to take a drive down to Woodbridge to see what progress they had made on our house. Holy toledo! Our project manager had told us that the foundation walls were up, but that didn't stop us from being completely shocked when we pulled up and saw this!
This dream that we've had for several months of seeing our home start to be constructed is finally a reality! It was so strange to go out there and not just see an empty lot. This is WAY better!!

We opted to have a walk-out basement, so if you look at the tan house on the left you'll see what our basement will eventually look like.

This area, above the foundation of course, will eventually be the garage. Directly behind it will be the home office and our family room.

On the right side of this picture you can see where our front door will be. Behind it and slightly off to the right will be our formal living room (which is at the front of the house) and the formal dining room directly behind the living room.

This is the back entrance to the basement, where the sliding doors will be. As you can see, we'll have plenty of room in the basement for storage. No more shoving all the boxes we own into the guest bedroom! Wahoo!!
Here is the birthday boy and me taking our first picture inside of our house!

Skyler felt right at home as soon we got to our lot! Here he is talking on his cell phone in the basement/garage. And so far, so good! We actually get reception out here. That's a huge step-up from our current situation. Every phone call results in us standing as close as we can to a window, with the person we're talking to ultimately telling us that we're still "breaking up." Only 2 more months of that silliness!!

  1. Looks good you two! So, what will be under the garage? Will there be storage there too? We are so envious of your basement! Can't wait to have one of those! Happy Birthday Sky, and Happy Anniversary to you both!
