MOVIN' ON UP!

Moving day started with a sad ceremony for a dearly departed friend...Skyler's pair of 14-year old shoes. That's right- he's had them since middle school. Dr. Martens certainly have quite the long lifespan, but they had simply seen better days. Goodbye, dear friends. Its been fun.

Moving is always such an ordeal, but we were so excited to be leaving the apartment and finally getting into our own home. We were so grateful that our parents (John & Jeanne; Ken & Kelli) graciously agreed to fly out and help us. What a tremendous blessing that was! We moved on a Friday, but only had a narrow window of time in which to complete the move.

We lived at the end of our hall on the 7th floor of our apartment building. So, we hauled everything down to the elevator, then proceeded to walk the entire length of the apartment complex, finally arriving at our awaiting rental truck. Quite the long haul, so we mustered up all the strength we had and went to work. Skyler and his Dad are Tetris geniuses, so the work of organizing all of our belongings in the truck went to them.

We had so many things that needed to be installed at the house, and we had everything planned out perfectly. However, for the first time EVER, the installation people (who always give you a "window" of time from 12-5) came early! Yup, around 10:30 we get a call saying Verizon needed us to be home to finish their installation. I got in the car and made a mad dash down to Woodbridge. Record time to Woodbridge not realizing that I didn't have my drivers license. Not cool. Thankfully, speeding tickets were not part of the day.

We finally got the truck down to the house, loaded everything in the garage, and brought the rental truck back to the lot with just minutes to spare. Here are some pictures of the happy laborers!

Our fabulous crew trying to figure out how to get "the little bear" (the love seat) in the house. The "big bear" was our sofa. A more appropriate term is actually "the beast." Our furniture is incredibly comfortable but extremely large and heavy! You'd think that builders would start making doorways a little larger to accommodate large pieces of furniture, mattresses, washers/dryers, etc.

The fabulous sight of an empty truck. Success!!!
